Battle of Bunker Hill

Actually fought here on nearby Breed's Hill, this battle was fought on July 17, 1775 and won by the British. One of the bloodiest of the American Revolution, 1400 casualties took place.
 
Israel Putman or Colonel William Prescott made the famous order here to "Hold your fire until you see the whites of their eyes."
