Just the Facts: The Surgance Movement

The vision behind the Surgance movement is to see communities transformed and lives changed in positive ways. The individuals behind the Surgance movement have a long track record of success catalyzing and managing humanitarian and social service projects across the country and around the world. We have mobilized and managed nearly 100,000 volunteers in over 50 nations working on issues as complex as Tuberculosis eradication in Afghanistan to those as simple as providing a warm coat to a homeless teenager on the streets of an American urban center. Our mission is to channel uncommon partners toward common ground social issues in order to change lives and transform communities for the better. Our strategy to achieve that mission is to empower and train the grassroots social entrepreneur and innovator to use our name, legitimacy and leverage to accomplish far more than they ever could alone. Typically, our directors focus on either programs (issues), or places (geography or populations), with a goal and a desire to transform communities and change lives. Surgance works only on common ground, nondivisive issues within communities. Our structure is like a three-legged stool. The platform of Surgance is a legal, 501c3 charitable and nonsectarian organization. Leg one is representative of our issue specific experts, PROGRAMS. Leg two is our geographically oriented change agents, operating in Surgance PLACES. Geographically oriented leaders desire to see transformation come to their city, but usually don't favor one program or issue over another. They seek comprehensive local transformation. Leg three is Surgance CORPORATE, bringing business sense, economies of scale and a centralized operations model to the market. This provides tremendous value to the donor and systematic professionalism to the social entrepreneur. Could the shoes be the problem?

Melissa and I ran 18 miles this weekend in 3:02 training for our marathon. However, my right foot is killing me just below the ankle and her left foot is killer her on the main tendon that connects on the top of her big toe. Could our shoes be the problem?

I mean, they seem fine to me, but I don’t want to ignore good advice from those more experienced in athletic endeavors.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

By the way, she hates icing her foot. Hehe...
